Community Liaison for Art in Stanislaus Schools

Bring a teaching artist to your classroom.

Community Liaison for Art in Stanislaus Schools (CLASS) is an ongoing program of the Stanislaus Arts Council, located at Mistlin Gallery, in downtown Modesto. Our teaching artists are ready to visit your classroom with engaging visual art lessons and hands-on projects. We bring everything that’s needed! Every lesson teaches the elements and principles of art with grade-level appropriate explanations based on California’s visual art standards.

Stay Connected With CLASS

Support your core curriculum with art classes!

CLASS teachers bring art to children in a professional and nurturing atmosphere. During CLASS courses, students will see and discuss artists and works of art, including contemporary artists. Most classes connect literature and other curriculum topics with the art lesson.

CLASS artists will challenge students to look at art as a part of every day life, analyzing and synthesizing visual culture. The lessons learned while discussing and making art can translate into a lifetime of seeing the world through a lens of creativity, close observation, critical analysis and visual understanding.

Each classroom session is one hour and includes a hands-on art activity. Fees for CLASS courses are $60 per session plus the cost of materials. Material cost estimates are available on request. To begin the scheduling process, contact our coordinator, Linda Knoll, at education@stanislausarts.org. Download our CLASS Handbook for more information.
