The Stanislaus Arts Council, in partnership with the Stanislaus Latino Chamber of Commerce, invites artists to participate in a juried exhibition celebrating The History of Low Riding Holiday and the rich cultural traditions, creativity, craftsmanship, and community that surround lowriding.
About the Exhibition
The History of Low Riding: Culture, Community & Legacy invites artists to explore the many stories and perspectives connected to lowriding. While automobiles are at the heart of the tradition, lowriding represents far more than the vehicles themselves. It is an art form, a cultural expression, a celebration of craftsmanship, and a tradition shaped by generations of creativity, family, identity, pride, and community.
Artists are encouraged to consider the people, places, histories, traditions, and experiences that have shaped lowriding culture, as well as the ways this cultural expression continues to evolve today.
We welcome artwork that approaches the subject from a variety of perspectives and artistic disciplines. Work may explore themes of culture, identity, family, heritage, craftsmanship, community, music, fashion, history, storytelling, celebration, and legacy, as well as the visual language and aesthetic of lowriding.
Artists are encouraged to bring their own voice and interpretation to the exhibition. Artwork does not need to depict a lowrider vehicle literally. We are interested in the broader stories and cultural perspectives that make lowriding meaningful.

Stanislaus Latino Chamber of Commerce Presents: The 2nd Annual History of Low Riding Holiday
Saturday, September 26, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Downtown Modesto
The featured community celebration will provide an opportunity for the public to experience the exhibition alongside a larger celebration of lowriding culture, history, and community.
Who Should Apply?
Artists working in a variety of media are encouraged to submit. We welcome emerging and established artists whose work meaningfully engages with the themes of the exhibition.
Whether your connection to lowriding comes through family, community, cultural heritage, personal experience, visual art, storytelling, or simply an appreciation for its history and craftsmanship, we invite you to consider how your creative voice can contribute to this conversation.
