A Community Worth Celebrating: Join the Dos Rios Arts & Cultural District Kickoff on October 15

Creativity lives in the stories we share, the traditions we carry, and the places where we come together. On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the Stanislaus Arts Council invites the community to celebrate that creativity at the Dos Rios Arts & Cultural District Community Kickoff Celebration and Ribbon Cutting, taking place during the final Modesto Art Walk of the year.

The celebration marks Dos Rios’ new designation as a California Cultural District, recognizing the arts, cultural heritage, and creative community of Downtown and West Modesto. It is a moment to honor the people and places that have shaped this identity and to look ahead to what we can build together.

For the Stanislaus Arts Council and our district partners, Visit Modesto and the City of Modesto, this milestone offers an opportunity to strengthen connections among artists, cultural organizations, businesses, and residents. Our shared vision is a district where creativity is visible, cultural traditions are celebrated, and people from all walks of life feel welcome to participate.

Join the Celebration

Gather at the Stanislaus Arts Council, 1315 J Street in Modesto, from 6–8 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at 6:10 p.m. alongside the Modesto Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy light refreshments and connect with the neighbors, artists, and community partners helping shape the district’s future.

The Modesto Art Walk runs from 5–8 p.m., offering even more opportunities to explore downtown, meet local artists, discover their work, and enjoy conversations sparked by the arts. Arrive early to begin your Art Walk, join us for the ribbon cutting, and continue exploring afterward.

This celebration belongs to the community. Artists, families, neighbors, business owners, and visitors are all invited to share in a moment of pride and possibility.

Bring someone you love exploring with, and join us as we celebrate the culture, creativity, and community connections that make Dos Rios our own.

This activity is supported in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency. Learn more at www.arts.ca.gov.
