Now Accepting Artist Proposals: Jenny’s Place Public Mural Project

The Stanislaus Arts Council, in partnership with Upholdings, LLC, invites professional artists and artist teams to apply for an exciting public art opportunity in Modesto, California.

We are commissioning two vibrant, retro-inspired exterior murals for Jenny’s Place, located at 710 North 9th Street. This is a chance to showcase your artistic voice while celebrating Modesto’s cultural identity and history.

Project Highlights:

  • Location: 710 N. 9th Street, Modesto, CA

  • Wall Sizes: 26 ft x 7 ft 1 in and 22 ft x 7 ft 1 in

  • Theme: 1950s–60s retro flair, Modesto history, bold and colorful

  • Budget: $10,000 (inclusive of artist fees, materials, and labor)

  • Timeline: Start after July 15, complete by September 15, 2025

  • Application Deadline: June 21, 2025

  • Notification: July 1, 2025

To Apply, Submit:

  • Letter of Interest (1 page max)

  • Artist Resume + Bio

  • Portfolio (5–10 samples, with public art encouraged)

  • Concept sketches (optional but welcome)

  • 2–3 professional references
