Holiday Public Art Opportunity – Deadline extended to Nov. 2

Downtown Window- Walk Public Art Initiative Update
The Stanislaus Arts Council in partnership with DoMo and DID, is seeking creative and community-minded artists to participate in Window Wander-Land, a holiday-themed public art installation featured in downtown storefront windows. This is a unique opportunity to showcase your creative talents in a highly visible, festive, and interactive community setting.

Artist Call

How to Apply
Interested artists should submit the following:

  • Artist Statement or Bio (250 words max)

  • Portfolio Samples (3–5 images of previous work or proposed sketches)

  • Brief Proposal (initial concept ideas or themes you wish to explore)

  • Availability Confirmation

Applications will be reviewed, with priority given to artists who demonstrate creativity, community spirit, and the ability to execute large-scale, highly visible works.

Notifications to participate will be sent by 6PM on Wednesday, November 5.

About the Project

Selected artists will collaborate with local businesses to design and install temporary, family-friendly art installations in downtown storefronts. Installations will remain on view from November 24, 2025, through January 10, 2026, encouraging community engagement, supporting small businesses, and celebrating the holiday spirit through the arts.

Artist Compensation

  • Artists will receive a commission rate of $5 per square foot of decorate-able storefront space.

  • Businesses will cover this commission, with up to $160 reimbursed per business by the Downtown Partnership.

  • Example: An 8’ x 8’ window (64 sq. ft.) = $320 artist commission.

Timeline

  • Design/Site Meeting with Business Owners: November 13, 2025 (12–5 PM)

  • Installation Window: November 15 – November 23, 2025

  • Display Period: November 24, 2025 – January 10, 2026

  • Deinstallation: January 10 – January 25, 2026

Artist Requirements

  • Be available for the design/site meeting on November 13, 2025.

  • Collaborate with business owners to create a design that satisfies both parties.

  • Install artwork within the designated timeframe.

  • Ensure installations are visible and impactful from outside the storefront at all hours.

  • Remove all artwork between January 10 – January 25, 2026.

  • Artwork may be multi-media but must be safe, family-friendly, and weather/durability conscious.
