Every installation has a story. This season, we’re celebrating the artists who bring Winter Wander-Land to life. Meet the makers behind the magic that transforms our downtown into a canvas of creativity and joy.

Rosa Pacheco

Experience Rosa’s Winter Window Wander-Land installation at the Stanislaus Arts Council and Visit Modesto located at 1315 J Street.

As the Arts Coordinator at the JFK Special Education Campus, Rosa Pacheco is dedicated to fostering creativity and inclusion for students with a wide range of abilities. She views art as a universal language that can bring people together, and she is intentional about making creative expression accessible to all. Rosa’s work is guided by empathy and a commitment to helping each student feel a sense of belonging, always celebrating the unique perspectives they bring to the school community.

For Winter Wanderland, Rosa aims to create a collaborative installation that lifts up the creative voices of students who are often overlooked. She hopes her work will encourage visitors to pause, smile, and feel connected to something larger than themselves. By exploring themes such as "Seeing the Seasons Through Every Perspective" and "Together We Shine," Rosa continues her commitment to art that is inclusive and rooted in community experience.

Susan M. Maithya

Experience Susan’s Winter Window Wander-Land installation at Skinology located at 1517 K Street.

Susan M. Maithya is a multidisciplinary artist who brings her ideas to life through a wide range of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal, gouache, graphite, and colored pencils. Her creative journey began early and continues to evolve as she explores new styles and techniques. Drawing from her global experiences and cultural heritage, Susan creates expressive, detailed pieces that tell a story. She approaches each project with curiosity and a clear sense of purpose, allowing her concepts to develop through both skill and imagination. For Winter Wanderland, Susan hopes to share the joy and sense of wonder that seasonal art can bring to the community. Her work has been featured in galleries, fairs, festivals, and magazines, reflecting her ongoing passion for connecting with others through creativity.

Patricia Pratts

Experience Patricia’s Winter Window Wander-Land installation at the Express Library and Rodin Farms located at the corner of J Street and 10th Street.

Patricia is a contemporary narrative artist from the Central Valley, drawing inspiration from a family tradition of sign painting and pinstriping. Her approach combines a strong sense of line and form with influences from nature and the gentle creativity she learned from her grandmothers. Patricia’s work is grounded in local memories and shared stories, using paintings, illustrations, and murals to create art that feels both familiar and welcoming. She sees her creative process as a way to build community and spark meaningful connections, using art to encourage civic engagement. Through Winter Wanderland, Patricia hopes to inspire a sense of pride and belonging for everyone exploring downtown. Her recent projects with her gallery and the Urbanists Collective reflect her ongoing commitment to supporting public art and helping the local art scene thrive.

Elizabeth Buenrostro

Elizabeth Buenrostro is a painter who finds inspiration in old treasures, sweet treats, and the stories that connect us. Her work blends nostalgia and imagination, drawing from nature and a sense of mysticism to create art filled with patterns, color, and expressive characters. Elizabeth’s creative process moves between moments of intuition and careful development, allowing each piece to reveal its own story. She sees art as a way to explore memory, emotion, and the quiet magic found in everyday life. Through Winter Wanderland, Elizabeth hopes to offer the community a sense of warmth, whimsy, and seasonal wonder.

Ronnae Mondragon

Experience Ronnae’s Winter Window Wander-Land installation at Bakeshop located at 940 11th Street and the Boutique at Mira's located at 1201 J Street.

Ronnae is an artist based in Modesto who specializes in children’s art, modern fine art, neon and UV pieces, and glitter-focused designs. She is inspired by the sense of joy and togetherness that comes with the holidays, and she is passionate about creating art that encourages positivity throughout the community. Ronnae’s approach is playful and interactive, often using large-scale elements to invite viewers to engage with her work. Her recent chalk projects for the Modesto Children’s Museum gave her the chance to collaborate with families and create vibrant art for the public. Through Winter Wanderland, Ronnae hopes to spark joy and help build a festive spirit downtown.

You can find Andy’s Winter Window Wander-Land installations at Delicioso located at 1410 H Street and next to Brenden Theater at 1021 10th Street, Suite B.

Andy Nguyen is a muralist and window painter who brings playful energy and bright color to everyday spaces. Their work combines humor, nostalgia, and a strong sense of community, often featuring expressive characters and bold outlines that connect with people of all ages. Andy is inspired by the warmth of seasonal celebrations and the way they bring neighborhoods together, a theme that often appears in their holiday art. With each project, Andy focuses on creating joy and building connections, transforming blank spaces into opportunities for shared storytelling. Through Winter Wanderland, Andy hopes to spark smiles and help visitors recall cherished holiday memories. Their work in local homes, businesses, and public events reflects a belief that art should be fun, welcoming, and uplifting.
